Latest Project

This is my latest work:
A co-worker asked if I would do a cake for her daughters pool party. Her daughter likes Dr. Pepper and SweeTarts, so I was asked to make a cake special for her.
This is my cake in response to her request.

A while ago....

I was challenged to design a cake. People said that I couldn't do it, not in 3d anyway.

Thinking that it would be difficult but I thought some more about it and decided to take that challenge.

COMPUTER CAKE

I made a computer cake with tower, old school monitor, and keyboard (just forgot to make the mouse...darn it).

Check it out - tell me what you think....any comments???

And they said that I couldn't do it. I think I can do better next time. ;)

BTW - Story behind the cake: Close friends of ours were selling their computer business and moving away, so I came up with this design just for them. They are one of a kind, unique and special... so no ordinary sheet cake would do.

Just the Beginning cake design

About 6 years ago I moved to a new state and started a new job. I was hired to work PT in a bakery/ deli. One day the cake decorator quit without notice and my manager came to me and asked if I knew how to decorate cakes. I thought for a minute and remembered the cakes my mother let me decorate and how they turned out. Naturally I told her NO. She asked if I would like to learn and give it a try. Well that was Just the Beginning....

Now I take pride in my work, it is my art form of choice. Some people paint, sketch, draw, write beautiful poetry or inspiring novels...... I design cakes. So I created this blog to show off :) but seriously I design cakes for fun, not for business.

Many have asked why I don't go into business for myself... well... this is my hobby, my joy - if I HAD to do it everyday ...
Let's just say I fear losing my love for decorating so I keep my work to only those projects that are close to me.
